Dax Shepard he is looking back on a near-death experience from which he narrowly escaped.

Shepard created the terrifying scene, explaining that he was lying in the back seat of a Ford Probe driven by his friend.
“We wanted to go back from Toledo to Detroit,” he recalled. “It was, like, late at night, and I had to work really early in the morning, so I was like, ‘Hey, I’m going to sleep in the back.’ Are you good to drive?” ‘Yes, I’m totally fine'”.
The Ranch The actor continued, “I was on cruise control on 85, and I’m, like, back there, I’m listening, and the road was really rhythmic. Shepard explained that since the pine trees line the interstate in Michigan, he was convinced the vehicle would hit a tree.
“I started going to grab the wheel, and there’s a moment where I knew it was too far, like we’d gone completely sideways,” he shared. “I lay down again, and then we launched into the air and started rolling down the freeway.”
Although the experience was terrifying, Shepard said there was a moment when she felt at peace with the fact that she might have died.
“I’m like, ‘We’re going to hit a tree, and that’s it,’ and I definitely had that moment where I was like, ‘Wow, I’m going to die in a second,’ and the feeling was surprisingly comforting that I remember going through total fear, ‘F*** the car is out of control. Shepard went on to say that for about three days after the accident, he felt “very peculiar” and wondered, “Am I dead? I know I died.” For him, these thoughts were “the weirdest part of it all.”
When asked if the accident was a long time ago, Shepard revealed that it happened when she was in 12th grade.
“This may surprise you, but I haven’t been able to fall asleep in a car since, so I can never let the other person take a turn driving. There’s no way I’m going to sleep with someone else driving,” Shepard concluded, to which Cuoco replied, “That makes sense. That’s severe PTSD.”
