Graham Norton is revealing behind-the-scenes details from its filming era taylor swift“Opalite” music video.
“I filmed it in Croydon – they filmed most of it in London and a bit in America,” Norton, 62, said in the episode on Monday 9 February. “forward” podcast
Norton noted that he met the photographer with whom he took Swift’s engagement photos Travis Kelce. (Swift and Kelce, both 36, announced the NFL player popped the question in 2025.)
“Travis was unfortunately not there, but his mother, father and brother (were) at the video shoot,” she said.
Norton admitted he was “a little” nervous about the experience. “We shot the video at the end of November and I said, ‘Please release the video so I can tell somebody I’m in it,'” Norton said. “I’m really scared of myself (for keeping the video a secret). … On New Year’s Eve, I was with a group of gay guys and I just thought, ‘This is so good, I can definitely tell them’ … but I didn’t.”
On Friday, February 6, Swift released her music video for “Opalite,” the third track from her 12th studio album, The life of a chorus girl. Norton appeared in the video alongside celebrities Cillian Murphy, Domhnall GleesonGreta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith i Lewis Capaldi. The group appeared previously The Graham Norton Show andin October 2025, which sparked the idea for Swift.
“It all came to him in a blinding flash while he was in the (Graham Norton Show) couch … and the next thing you know she’s written this whole treatment,” Norton explained. “Taylor wrote that right; everything is scripted and she directs it right.
Norton said that Swift is a “wonderful director”, and described her ability to not stress as “extraordinary”.
“It was like a movie shoot, a massive deal,” he said. “Everyone was lovely on set. It was a really, really fun experience.”
After releasing the music video, Swift explained that she was doing a promotion for herself The life of a chorus girl album activated The Graham Norton Show when the idea came to him.
“I remember thinking I was ridiculously lucky with the group I was paired with. Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, @JodieSmith and @LewisCapaldi,” she wrote via Instagram on Friday. “Everyone whose work I’ve admired from afar. When we were all talking on air, Domhnall made a lighthearted joke about wanting to be in one of my music videos. He’s Irish! He was joking! Except at that moment during the interview, an *idea* immediately struck me. And so a week later I got an email. written for Opalite videowhere he played the leading role”.
He continued: “I thought it would be wild if all our fellow guests Graham Norton That night’s show, including Graham himself, might as well be a part of it. Like a school group project but for adults and not compulsory. To my delight, everyone on the show made the effort to time travel back to the 90s with us and help us with this video. You might even recognize some friendly faces The Tour d’Eres.”
