Turning Point, which was founded by the late conservative activist Charlie Kirkannounced in October 2025 that he would set up his own halftime show to air at the same time as Bad Bunny (real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) performs at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Sunday, February 8. The All-American Halftime Show will feature performances by Gilbert, Kid Rock, Lee Brice i Gabby Barrett.
Brittany and her husband, Jason, were close friends with the late Turning Point founder, Kirk, and have spoken publicly about his pain about his shooting death in September 2025.
Many conservatives, including the president donald trump — objected to the NFL’s selection of Bad Bunny to perform during the Super Bowl because most of his songs are in Spanish. Bad Bunny is an American citizen, as Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States.

Gilbert, 41, he defended his involvement with the All-American Halftime Show on Friday, Feb. 6, saying he signed on because a country artist hasn’t headlined the Super Bowl halftime show since. Shania Twain made with Sting and Without a doubt in 2003.
“We’re celebrating 250 years as a country, and it’s been over 20 years since a country artist was asked to play the Super Bowl halftime show. I respect that some people see it differently, but I’m not doing this show to be divisive,” Gilbert insisted. “They gave me this opportunity and I envisioned my kids watching their dad perform at halftime during the biggest game in American football. Everything I do, I do for them.”
The week leading up to the duel halftime shows has been filled with heated debate on social media due to Kid Rock’s The 2001 song ‘Cool, Daddy Cool’ returns. The track, which was originally released on the soundtrack of the animated film Osmosis Jones — includes lyrics about pleasing underage girls.
“Now there’s people saying my mind’s blown, I’m chillin’ like a snow cone / On my cell, they pay me, G, you can’t call me, just page me / Girls, girls, I like underage,” the lyrics read. “Some say this is legal (but I say it’s mandatory) / My story ain’t that complex, two forties and a Rolex / I break, I roll, I roll, G, I cut my hair with the Flowbee.”
Kid Rock has yet to directly address the backlash over ‘Cool, Daddy Cool’, but he has commented that he will be taking on Bad Bunny.
