of Sudan Rapid Support Force (RSF) has launched a series of drone strikes targeting humanitarian aid convoys and fuel trucks. North KordofanAt least one person was killed and several others injured, officials and medical organizations said.
The North Kordofan state government condemned Friday’s attack on a convoy linked to the World Food Program (WFP), urging the international community and United Nations agencies to impose sanctions on the leadership of the RSF paramilitary group.
The attacks took place on a major road connecting the state capital. Al-Obeidincluding Kosti in neighboring White Nile State.
Fighting between the government-affiliated Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the RSF has intensified in the Kordofan region since October 2025 after el-Fashar fell to the RSF, where the group committed atrocities – a “Crime Scene” According to the UN.
According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the first strike in the early hours of the morning hit three trucks in Ar-Rahad.
A second attack took place in the Allah Karim area near Es Samih, damaging four vehicles, including a UN aid delivery truck.
In Umm Rawaba, three drones hit a transport truck and a fuel tanker, killing additional civilians. WFP has yet to issue an official statement.
The Sudan Doctors Network said the convoy was helping displaced communities in al-Obeid when it was attacked, describing the incident as a “flagrant violation of international humanitarian law” and a war crime.
The group called for an independent investigation and stronger international measures to protect humanitarian workers and infrastructure.
Washington also condemned the incident. “The US condemns the recent drone attack on a World Food Program convoy transporting food to North Kordofan. Drought affected People who killed one and wounded many others,” Massad Boulos, the US’s senior adviser on Arab and African affairs, wrote on X.
“Destroying food for people in need and killing humanitarian workers is disturbing,” he wrote.
“The Trump administration has zero tolerance for this destruction of life and US-funded aid; we demand accountability and offer condolences to all those affected by this unforgivable event and horrific war,” he added.
UN resident and humanitarian coordinator Dennis Brown said the truck was on its way from Kosti to deliver life-saving food aid to displaced families near Al-Obeid when it was hit.
She reported that this attack followed another Drone attack Earlier in the week, a staff member was injured at a WFP-affiliated facility in Yabus, Blue Nile state.
The brutal conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF, now approaching its third year, has killed thousands, displaced some 11 million and pushed many regions into famine conditions.
The United Nations estimates that more than 21 million Sudanese face acute food insecurity, with two-thirds of the population in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. Thousands have also fled to neighboring Chad.
