Bridgerton fans believe they spotted an editing error during Season 4 of the Netflix series.
In the season premiere, which premiered on Thursday, January 29, Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) hosts a masquerade ball. At one point, Violet converses with Lady Araminta (Katie Leung) and their daughters, Rosamund Li (Michelle Mao) and Posy Li (Isabella Wei). During his talk, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Leung had a flesh-colored band-aid on the top of his ear.
“Dear gentle readers…looks like this could be Cho Chang after all…band-aids in this day and age?!👀.” a fan captioned a TikTok clip documenting the scene and referencing the famous role of Leung al Harry Potter movies
Fans took to the comments section to discuss the editing error.
“So I wasn’t mad when I saw it?” one user wrote, while another replied: “How do you pay attention to these things? I didn’t even notice!”
Another fan shared, “This is literally the problem with ultra HD TVs and cameras.”
Others noted that the presence of a Band-Aid was not accurate with Bridgerton’s Regency-era setting.
“A band aid invented in 1920, meanwhile 1800 😂,” joked one user while another retorted: “Guys, it’s Bridgerton. It’s not supposed to be historically accurate.”
Some fans theorized that the use of a bandage was to cover an ear piercing for Leung.
“I wish they would have covered it better, like put a fancy cuff on it or something,” one fan wrote.
Bridgerton Season 4 follows the love story between Benedict (Luke Thompson) and Sophie (Yerin Ha) who meet at the masquerade ball. The pair have a Cinderella-like encounter as Sophie does not reveal her true identity to Benedict. Leung plays Sophie’s stepmother who makes her a housemaid.
Later in the series, Lady Araminta frees Sophie from her maid duties and gets her a job with the Bridgerton family. Sophie forms a bond with Benedict’s sisters, Eloise (Claudia Jessie) and Hyacinth (Florence Hunt).
Although Benedict is very close to Sophie, he does not know that they met at the dance. Despite not knowing her true identity, Benedict develops feelings for her, but since she is a maid he cannot pursue her romantically. In the first part finale, Benedict proposes that Sophie become his lover, leaving the series on a cliffhanger. The second part of the season will be released on Thursday, February 26.
Bridgerton author Julia Quinn spoken exclusively Us Weekly on the proposal of Benedict’s mistress.
“That’s one thing I just said, ‘You’ve got to make sure they understand that, because it’s going to look really awful,'” she explained of Benedict’s proposal to Sophie. “And that’s why I always tell people, ‘Hey, the big deal isn’t that he’s doing this, not that he’s asking her to be his lover, because that would happen.’
Quinn continued, “The big thing is that he grows up and gets over it and changes his mind and then he’s like, ‘You’re more important than what anyone says.’ And I think it’s so romantic that he has to learn that and come out right away. I like to show character growth. I don’t want my characters to be perfect at the beginning. I want them to be better towards the end.”
Part 2 of Bridgerton Season 4 premieres on Netflix on Thursday, February 26. All the Bridgerton audiobooks are available on Spotify Premium.
