Tim Bradley believes that the next level of boxing excellence will be matched by what is seen and what happens in the ring. In his opinion, Shakur Stevenson is poised to reach a level of mainstream recognition that Terence “Bud” Crawford never quite achieved in his own peak game.
Bradley sees this outcome as unfortunate but inevitable. He is careful to emphasize that this is not a criticism of Crawford or his work. Crawford built his name on results, not self-promotion, and cemented his place in boxing history on his own terms. The difference, Bradley says, is not talent or achievement, but method.
For much of his rise, Crawford has expressed distaste for self-promotion. He stayed away from social media and rarely relied on interviews. That decision did not affect his position in the game, but it limited his reach to fans and the public. Bradley thinks that absence is a key reason Crawford hasn’t fully crossed over into stardom.
Stevenson takes the opposite route. He remains active in X and makes himself available to the media. Even if critics argue that his message rarely changes, his constant presence gets his name out there. Bradley believes that being seen alone is a burden, even if there is no natural spirituality or good delivery.
“I think Shakur has the ability, and he’s not a shadow of Terence,” Bradley told him. channel. “He will be remembered forever. Terence changed the game, and he did it his way. I think Shakur will do it his way, too.”
Bradley does not consider Stevenson a powerful speaker in the traditional sense. He pointed out that interviews often revisit the same topics and rely more on certainty than understanding. However, that limit does not affect him.
“But I think he’s going to be more famous, and more respected than I think Terence Crawford,” Bradley said. “It’s a shame, but that’s the truth. I’m not saying he’s a nice guy. He’s not Ali. He shouldn’t have done it with his mouth. Shakur has become the best at what he does, and by beating guys you feel he can’t beat.”
