Will Arnett claims a “famous joke” was released on the SmartLess podcast


Will Arnett spilled some backstage tea about the “SmartLess” podcast he co-hosts Sean Hayes i Jason Batemanrevealing that a “famous comedian” had the boot within minutes of recording an episode.

Arnett didn’t offer any names or mincing words when he described the mystery comedian as a “damn moron” during a Jan. 26 appearance on The Romesh Ranganathan Showwhich has since gained traction online as fans try to decipher the star’s identity.

“I’ve been a fan since day one and I’m VERY CURIOUS! 👀” a social media user wrote in Threadswhile another noted that “we’ll probably never know,” adding, “but at least we can fantasize about who these comics could be.” A third echoed: “Dang! I want to know the details!”

According to Arnett, the unnamed celebrity was so unpleasant to him, Hayes, 55, and Bateman, 57, that they suddenly “cut him off after 10 minutes and said, ‘Thank you very much’ and left him.”

As for why the unnamed comedian wanted her episode pulled, she said she was “concerned because I thought it was promising” and worried about the ramifications her quotes could have on her career if they’re misunderstood or taken out of context.

Arnett said he would remain tight-lipped about his identity, but joked about his reputation. “We were like, ‘You’re good,'” he teased. “And it turns out we were right.”

The trio has been co-hosting the “SmartLess” podcast, previously run by Amazon’s Wondery until SiriusXM took it over in a deal worth more than $100 million, since 2020. Some of the show’s celebrity guests include Charli xcx, Macaulay Culkin, Jennifer Lawrence i Chelsea Handler.
