Under the deck‘s Daisy Kelliher called out Ben Robinson to live in the guest cabins, but was the chef actually allowed to reside there?
“This season in the galley my biggest challenges (had to do with Ben),” Daisy exclusively said Us Weekly before the show’s return on Monday, February 2. “Ben is an interesting person to work with. He’s a lot of fun, he’s got a great personality and he’s great TV. But he’s definitely a challenge.”
Daisy recognized the similarities between her and Ben.
“Maybe we’re both as stubborn as the others,” he pointed out. “(Our issues were) kind of all of those things. It was the guest cabin, it was the way he managed his team and the way he ran his kitchen. There were difficulties with communication, so the timing and not imagining the service in the same way. Honestly, there were a lot of difficulties and challenges.”
Despite their problems, Daisy said Ben is “a hard person to stay angry with”, adding: “But neither of us wanted animosity, and I think we both wanted to do our best for the guests. Because that was our main focus, we could always go back and say, ‘OK, look, we like it’. How can we make that goal happen?”
She continued: “But I think towards the end of the season I was getting frustrated. We have a few flare-ups, and there are definitely some arguments. It’s hard because I was trying to do a good job, like him. It was all honestly a challenge.”

The Season 4 trailer shocked viewers as Daisy accused Ben of “living in the guest cabins.” While talking to weclarified the issue, saying, “It was basically every night off. He didn’t move in, but he moves in basically every night off.”
Daisy remembered to do it He “picks” his battles with Ben.
“I let it go. Even (captain) Jason (Chambers) says, ‘Let him go and pick your battles.’ There was so much else going on. It felt like a small thing to argue with, but I guess I wouldn’t let it go and he wouldn’t let it go,” he continued. “She takes a guest robe, but she does it to annoy me and she makes it her own. As you’ll see throughout the season, she takes it all over the ship to wrap me up. So, of course, I can’t let her go. I think she was doing things to push my buttons all season.”
The Chief Stew was previously teased we the orthe result of their round trip with ben
“I went into the season taking no prisoners. I knew what I wanted. I didn’t want to be left out, so I went in a lot with that mindset,” Daisy teased in November 2025. “Ben challenged me and he’s not easy to work with.”
Daisy praised her time with Ben despite the challenges, she said we it eventually resulted in a friendly relationship.
“I think he respected me, too. So I think I really evolved as a stew boss and as a person, and it wasn’t easy. I don’t like confrontation, but I need it. I was so sure of what I wanted to achieve,” she said at the time. “I was like, ‘I’m not letting any crew member get in the way of what I’m trying to do this season.’
More recently, Daisy stepped in possibly work with Ben again.
“That’s always difficult. If you’d asked me nine months ago, I probably would have said no. But time has passed now,” he added. “I would. Ben is a great chef, whether he was working with me or not. We got through the season and gave some great advice. It wouldn’t be a show if we weren’t at each other’s throats.”
