one of Nancy GuthrieThe man’s neighbors are assessing the “really strange” circumstances surrounding the 84-year-old’s disappearance.
“There were a lot of dark vans with tinted windows,” Morgan Brownwho lives “a quarter mile down the street” from Nancy, he said Us Weekly exclusively “At first there were a lot of police cars, and then it was vans, so I assumed maybe they ran into something.”
According to Brown, those who live in the neighborhood are asked to “watch our Ring cameras to see if anything out of the ordinary has come up.” He said authorities are “narrowing it down” to an hour between 1am and 4am local time on Sunday morning. (Nancy was last seen on Saturday, January 31.)
“I don’t know how they know,” Brown continued. “My Ring cameras don’t face the street, but I went through them and I haven’t heard of anyone finding anything.”
On Sunday, February 1st, the news of that NBC anchor broke Savannah GuthrieNancy’s mother, disappeared in Arizona. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos Sunday described the situation as “very worrying” in a statement, noting that the authorities they do not rule out foul play still Savannah, 54, was absent from the today show on Monday February 2. has been confirmed that it is in Arizona.
Brown said we that both “vans and helicopters” arrived at Nancy’s address on Sunday afternoon, adding: “I haven’t seen anyone there this morning.”
“They had a helicopter out looking for her. There are no sidewalks in our neighborhood,” Brown added. “You just walk down the street and then there’s desert, so (they) thought she walked off into the desert or something, but she walks with a cane, so I can’t imagine why she would do that. It’s desert, mesquite trees and cacti and rocks everywhere.”
A search is currently underway to find the mother of Today show host Savannah Guthrie, Nancy Guthrie, who has been reported missing. Brown made it clear, however, that “a lot of people walk through this neighborhood,” just not early in the morning.
“These are the foothills of Tucson,” he explained. “If you take two feet off the road, you’re basically in the thick of the cactus. It’s not enclosed at all.”
Although the Pima County Sheriff’s Office described Nancy as a “vulnerable adult” in her missing person’s report, they made it clear that she “does not have any cognitive issues.” According to the report, Nancy is “not in good” physical health. (It has since been revealed that Nancy takes a daily medicationand going more than 24 hours without a dose could be “fatal”).
“There are quite a few retirees and people who have lived in the neighborhood for a long time,” Brown continued. “You don’t hear about a lot of weird stuff in the neighborhood.”
At a second news conference on Monday, authorities said it’s likely Nancy “didn’t walk off on her own,” noting she “couldn’t walk 50 yards by herself.” The sheriff referred to Nancy’s house as a crime scene and explained that the situation is no longer considered “a search mission.”
“I can’t imagine what anyone would want with an 84-year-old woman,” Brown said we. “The thought that comes to my mind is that maybe they are trying get to Savannah somehowpolitical or not It’s horrible news.”
