Chappell RoanLook at 2026 Grammy Awards it was about pushing the limits.
The make-up artist of the “Red Wine Supernova” singer, Andrew Dahlingsaid he channeled a “Medieval Fantasy by Mugler” by using prosthetic nipples and fake tattoos for al red carpet held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 1.
Roan (real name Kayleigh Rose Amstutz) turned heads when she arrived almost topless in a flowy maroon dress that skimmed her body for her big night. The top performer, 27, was nominated for best pop solo act and album of the year for her latest single, “The Subway.”
From the front, her dress was designed to impress, with sheer fabric revealing her underwear covered in her nipple rings. The back of the dress fell low, showing off her temporary ink. She completed her look with a matching foil cape with gold accents at the collar and a pair of strappy heels.
Roan’s look was enhanced with fake ink, including a large fabric-inspired floral piece that was placed over her actual “princess” tattoo and temporary center-chest art. He has several designs permanently etched into his body, including a swan and flowers on his arm.
“There was so much going on — the tattoos, the nipples, everything — but overall we wanted everything to feel cohesive and really honor the costume and the medieval world we were living in,” Dahling said. Marie Claire.

“We started with this very archival moment, full and bare,” Dahling said. “Once the tattoos came into play, it all became very medieval, but in a real way. It’s still fantasy and otherworldly, but grounded.”
Her deep red hair was styled in tousled curls with strands braided throughout, and she wore a gold choker and matching dangling earrings.
“We still wanted to bring a bit of Chappell to it and a bit of glam, so we added a bit of MAC metallic liner detail just to add a bit of pop and a bit of glam and sparkle to her eyes to tie in with the jewels,” she shared, revealing that they opted for a “nude red” lip colour.
“This makeup may be a little underwhelming and unexpected for her fans who are expecting something extremely intense,” he continued. “But it was about honoring the story, the designer and the direction (his stylist) genesis created We wanted to let other elements of the look shine.”
Dahling said they used shadow sticks, shimmering shadows and lavender blush for her second look when she took the stage to present the award for Best New Artist. It was changed to a Rodarte number for the broadcast.
“It’s drama, but in a very fast and cool way,” she said of her glam. “It’s all about the shape of the eyes—glamour, sparkle, metallics in strategic places to make her eyes stand out,” Dahling explained. “Cool tones, many cool tones: lavenders.”
