Charli XCX explains why she doesn’t think she wants to have kids


Charli XCX is shedding light on her decision to potentially give up motherhood as she opens up about her upbringing as an only child.

“I don’t have siblings. I actually think not having siblings means you miss out on a lot of conflict, and I mean actually in a bad way. I think my friends who have siblings are much better at conflict because they don’t amplify it into this big dramatic thing,” Charli said, “On Monday, February 33 without any kind of airing.” 2. “They are able to move much faster than I can because they know how to spread it.”

When cohost Jason Bateman Asked if this meant she would like to have “more than one child” in the future, Charli replied: “I don’t really want to have children.”

Charli admitted that her feelings about not having children “could change”.

“I love the fantasy of having a kid. Like, naming it sounds so fun. But I’m like, that’s exactly a sign for me why I shouldn’t have one,” she shared. “The fact that this looks like the most beautiful part of it, I’m like, ‘Maybe I’m not ready.’

As Bateman, 57, continued to point out that The Moment star “I might find someone” who might change her mind about having kids, Charli chimed in, adding: “Well, I’m married, then.” Bateman joked, “I have to read a newspaper one of these days… Well, maybe, your next husband will want children.”

Charlie initially crossed with The 1975‘s Jordi Daniel as we work together on the March 2021 song “Spinning”. After sparking dating rumours, Charli went public with her relationship with Daniel in May of that year.

Charli quietly married Daniel in July 2025. In pictures shared at the time, Charli stunned in a white off-the-shoulder dress. The couple said “I do” again in September 2025 at Tonnara Di Scopello in the village of Scopello, Sicily, for Just Jared. Charli and Daniel walked down the hall to Enrique Iglesias “Hero,” featuring the groom in a custom suit created by Carter Young.

A year before they exchanged vows, Charli was candid about her thoughts on having children. “My circumstance involves me making a decision and saying, ‘I’m going to get off my birth control.’ I’m not going on tour. I’m going to see what George wants to do and then we’ll try to have a baby,” she said. “I feel like a boy; I don’t think I can make that decision.”

However, Charli noted that she knows she “will have to make the decision, because we have a clock.”
