Legendary Genesis musician Phil Collins he celebrated his 75th birthday with his family by his side.
“Dad turned 75 yesterday and I’m so grateful to have celebrated together,” Phil’s daughter Lily Collins wrote via Instagram on Saturday, January 31, sharing selfies of the father-daughter duo. “For all you’ve accomplished, for all the joy you’ve brought so many around the world for ALL these years, all the lessons we’ve learned, all the memories we’ve shared, and all the new ones to come, thank you.”
She continued: “I consider myself so lucky to have hugged you, laughed with you and reminisced with you on such a monumental day. Proud is an understatement. I love you to the moon and back.”
Phil shares Lily, 36, with ex Jill Tavelman. The retired musician also shares children with Joely, 53, and Simon, 49 Andrea Bertorellias well as sons Nic, 24, and Mathew, 21, with Orianne Cevey.

“Happy 75th birthday dad! I’m so proud of you,” Nic captioned it Instagram photo with his father and Matthew. “Thank you for always inspiring me and being the best dad I could ever ask for. I love you so much man ❤️.”
Lily responded to the comments, writing: “The greatest ❤️❤️❤️.”
Joely, meanwhile, also praised Nic’s portrayal.
“What great photos! Happy birthday dad! ❤️🙌🥳Joely replied.
Phil retired from playing with Genesis in 2022 before dealing with a series of health challenges.
“The thing is, I’ve been sick. I mean really sick,” Phil he said MOJO magazine in February 2025. “I keep thinking I should go down to the studio and see what happens, but I’m not hungry anymore.”
Phil underwent knee surgery last year, and then gave an update on his recovery process.
“You know, I have a 24-hour resident nurse to make sure I take my medication as I should,” Phil said during an interview with BBC Radio 2, which aired last month. “I’ve had problems with my knee. I had everything that could go wrong with me go wrong.”
According to Phil, he has a leg that still “works”.
“I can walk, although with help, you know, crutches or whatever,” he admitted.

Despite his health problems, Phil still has the loving support of his family.
“Still saying ‘That’s my dad!’ 25 years later,” Lily he wrote via Instagram in June 2025commemorating Father’s Day. “Now, I can play (tarzan) for my own daughter, who will one day point to the screen and say “That’s my grandpa!” Happy Father’s Day, Dad. I love you and (am) forever proud to be your daughter.”
Phil recorded the soundtrack for the 2002 Disney animated film tarzanincluding the Oscar-winning ballad “You’ll Be in My Heart” as a tribute to Lily.
“She calls me and says, ‘It’s all over the radio,'” Phil recalled in one Entertainment tonight interview at the time, discussing the song’s initial popularity. “(She adds), ‘I go to school and it’s all over the billboards.’ So she’s really excited about it. When she went to the movies with her mom, a trailer came on (and) she stood up and said, ‘That’s my dad.'”
Lily became a parent in January 2025, when she and her husband, Charlie McDowellwelcomed daughter Tove through a surrogate.
