Snoop Dogg breaks silence after daughter Cori announces son’s death

Snoop Dogg has sent love to his daughter, Corey Broadusafter his announcement that their baby Codi died three weeks after the baby’s release from a 10-month stay in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

The 54-year-old rapper (real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr.) shared a family photo, which included Cori, on Saturday, Jan. 31, and captioned the Instagram post with “shining heart” and “praying hands” emojis. Fans supported the grieving Broadus family with messages of condolence on Snoop’s Instagram comments section.

“I am so sorry for her and her husband on the loss of their son. This is very devastating news,” one fan responded. “I love some Cory❤️I pray for her comfort, healing and peace. The little girl is with the Lord now and no longer in pain. 🙏🏾 I am truly saddened by this.”

Another commenter added: “Deepest condolences, prayers for the family.”

“Lil sister we got you forever,” Cordell, 28, added.

Earlier in the day, Cori, 26, made the devastating announcement alongside sharing a black and white photo of herself cradling her daughter. (Codi was Broadus’ first child with the fiance Wayne Deuce.)

“On Monday, I lost the love of my life. My Code,” he confirmed via his Instagram story.

In a later post, Cori struggled with the tragic loss that came less than a month after Codi was released from an extended stay in intensive care.

“20 days later? Dawg I’m sick,” she wrote.

Deuce wailed at his daughter with his own poignancy Instagram storywhich read: “I’ve been the saddest since you left me Codi Dreaux. But I know (you’re) at peace. Daddy will always love you.”

Choir previously shared on January 6th that he was finally allowed to bring Codi “home”. The baby had a 10-month stay in the NICU because he was born three months early in February 2025.

“Thank you for every prayer, every message, every ounce of love. God heard them all,” Cori wrote to her Instagram followers earlier this month.

The Mayo Clinic classifies a baby born before 28 weeks of gestation as extremely premature. Complications such as breathing problems, feeding problems and difficulty regulating body temperature can arise in babies born so prematurely.

Cori documented her life as a NICU mom through her social media over the past 10 months. she was talking with Us Weekly in September 2025 about her daughter’s resilience during her unexpectedly long hospital stay.

“This girl is so feisty. She’s a feisty girl. She’s so resilient and strong,” Cori said. we at the launch of Choc Factory at Thirteen Lune in Los Angeles. “He has a lot of character. The doctors and nurses always tell me, ‘Your baby has made up his mind.’ He is intelligent. He is alert. He knows what’s going on. can hear can see Yes, the circumstances aren’t what you thought they would be, but it could be worse.” That girl is just a sweet little firecracker.”

During this same September 2025 interview, Cori explained to we that she relied on hope and faith to get her and Codi through such a difficult time.

“This morning, I had a moment because this baby that got there after I had my baby, he went home today and I broke down,” Broadus said. “Of course I’m happy. I’m ecstatic (for them), but it’s like, ‘Damn! You guys go home. Our baby is still here. But then it comes back to my faith. You have to trust God and His plan. Everyone’s plan looks a little different. She will come home. Our journey home looks a little different than the next baby and so on.”

Cori suffered from two very serious health problems over the years. He was diagnosed with lupus at age 6 and later had a stroke at age 24 in January 2024.

“What really brought me closer to God is after I had the stroke,” he said we last september “I said to Him, ‘God, if you get me out of here, I’m going to tell the world about all of you and I’m going to tell the world that you’re real.’ And He did just that. And He brings me through.”

Snoop Dogg shares three children with his wife, Shante Broadus: sons Corde, 31 years old, and Cordell, and daughter Cori. The hip-hop icon also shares a son, Julian Corrie Broadus27, with Laurie Helmond.
