Spain is seeking the first woman to head the UN since the organization was founded




The campaign to replace UN Secretary General António Guterres is underway, and around 100 female politicians gathered in Madrid, calling on the UN to elect a woman to succeed him. Since its founding in 1946, the UN has never had a woman head, and has never been considered. For the participants, until women participate in decision-making at the highest level, some of the biggest challenges facing women will not be solved at the global level.
