When he started his return to PGA Tourgolfer Brooks Koepka opened up about her family’s recent struggles.
.
“A lot has happened in the last five or six months with my family,” Koepka, 35, said at a press conference at Torrey Pines on Wednesday, Jan. 28, apparently referring to his wife. Jen Sims‘loss of pregnancy, according to Essentially sporty. He added that the events of the past year “played a big role” in his return to the PGA Tour this week.
“I have no regrets,” continued Koepka, who left LIV Golf on a one-year contract at the end of 2025. “But at the same time, I’m excited for this new chapter. Grateful to be here.”
Koepka added that having his family present for the upcoming tournament is “very important” to him.
Koepka has been married to Sims, 36, since 2022. The couple share son Crew, who they welcomed in July 2023.
Sims announced in October 2025 that he had suffered a pregnancy loss.
“At 16 weeks, we learned that our baby’s heart had stopped beating,” she wrote at the time via Instagram. “This is a pain no parent is ever prepared for. We are devastated, but we are hopeful that we will one day give Crew a sibling. Too often, these struggles happen in silence. There is still much work and research needed to better understand and support women’s reproductive health.”
Sims continued: “If you are experiencing or have experienced pregnancy loss or infertility, please know that you are not alone. 💔Lastly, I want to recognize the doctors and nurses who have to deliver this kind of heartbreaking news every day. It has to be the hardest part of their job, and I have a space in my heart for you too.”

Months before the defeat, the Sims opened up Us Weekly exclusively about paternity.
“For so many women, motherhood is their calling and their ultimate goal. I totally respect that. But that’s one of my goals,” she said in July 2025. “When Brooks and I were talking about having kids, I always said, ‘I’m still going to be working.’ I’ll still have a life.” I think it’s intimidating for a lot of women who can’t imagine that.”
The model continued: “I couldn’t live my life any other way. I’m grateful to have found a partner who really appreciates it. If anything, I think it’s one of the things he finds most attractive about me.”
In December 2025, LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil announced Koepka’s plans to leave the league.
“We have amicably and mutually agreed that Brooks Koepka will no longer compete in the LIV Golf League after the 2025 season,” O’Neil said. “Brooks is prioritizing the needs of his family and staying closer to home. We appreciate the significant impact he has had on the game and wish him continued success both on and off the field.”
Koepka was a member of LIV Golf since June 2022.
“The family has always guided Brooks’ decisions and believes this is the right time for him to spend more time at home,” Koepka’s management team said in a December 2025 statement. “Brooks will continue to be a strong supporter of LIV Golf and wishes the league and its players continued success. Brooks remains passionate about the game of golf and will keep fans updated on what lies ahead.”
Meanwhile, the PGA Tour said in a statement at the time: “Brooks Koepka is a highly accomplished professional, and we wish him and his family every success. The PGA Tour continues to provide top professional golfers with the most competitive, challenging and lucrative environment in which to pursue greatness.”
