Many Tennesseans are sharing their experiences with Winter Storm Fern, which wreaked havoc in and around the Nashville area.
The region is trying to get back to normal after Fern dumped snow, sleet, freezing rain and ice on much of the East Coast in recent days.
according to The Tennesseethe storm caused gridlocked roads, downed trees and power poles, downed power lines and stranded residents. There were eight weather-related fatalities in Tennessee, according to the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, as of Tuesday, January 27.
“Still no energy, but finally linemen around,” country singer Maren Morris she wrote via her Instagram story on Tuesday, while bundled up in her warm winter coat. “A lot of damage to repair, but a silver (sic) of hope.”
Jessie James Decker shared pictures of her husband, Eric Deckershoveling the family’s front yard between cutting tree branches and collecting firewood.
“While other women say ‘I don’t need a man,’ I just smile, because I really need mine,” she wrote via Instagram on tuesday “And I’ll have dinner on the table for you when you come in.”
As the region braces for another cold blast over the weekend, read on to see what some of Nashville’s biggest stars experienced during the storm:
Shawn Johnson Est
Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson Est he was one of thousands of residents who lost power during the storm.
“This is our house and now my parents without power,” Johnson East, 34, shared via her Instagram story on Tuesday. “We came to my parents when ours went out and a tree took out our power panel. It’s been 4 days now with no end in sight. Now my parents just moved out so we have to plan where to go. 4 adults, 3 kids and 6 animals.”
According to Johnson East, “most everyone” was leaving town because “it’s too cold.”
“Even fireplaces are not maintained or people are running out of supplies or firewood,” he claimed. “We don’t have generators. It’s not very common in Nashville. It’ll be the first one we have for sure when we go through this. Generator and cleaning 100 tires.”
Jessie James Decker
A resident of Tennessee since 2007, country singer Jessie James Decker said she had “never seen anything like it.”
“To all the line workers and first responders, thank you. ❤️🙏🏽,” she wrote via Instagram on tuesday “We can’t even imagine what you are going through or how tirelessly you work to help our community.”
Lauren Lane
The Baccalaureate alum Lauren Lane shared a glimpse of what her neighborhood was like as she tried to help the birds that visit her home.
“Nashville looks so, so sad right now. So many downed trees and destruction,” she wrote via her Instagram story on Tuesday. “I’ve been feeding them daily. They’ve been gobbling up food. My feeder went out the window. It was very cold, but they’re hungry birds.”
Chyler Leigh
Distinctive actress Chyler Leigh he didn’t take any chances before Winter Storm Fern hit his city.
“I prepared as well as I could for this ice storm. I really did. I have my kids and my pets with me, so I didn’t take an iota of the situation without a lot of forewarning,” she wrote via Instagram on tuesday “That said, I’ve been without power since Sunday morning. I’ve had a multitude of large trees and limbs fall in my yard (thankfully no structural damage). Honestly, it sounded like mini explosions as the actual scene unfolded. Trees crashing as they succumbed to the weight of the ice. Very strange.”
Ashley Walker
The Hills alum Ashley Walker he couldn’t believe what he was seeing in his community.
“SOOOOOO many people still without power. I’ve never seen so much destruction. It’s heartbreaking,” she wrote via her Instagram story on Tuesday. “With as many trees as I’ve seen with friends and their farms etc, it looks like most properties have been fine, that’s literally God’s protection right there!”
Cole LaBrant
influencer Cole LaBrant was able to step outside her home and share a glimpse of what her neighborhood block looked like after the storm.
“This ice storm has really shaken our family and our city. I don’t think anyone was truly prepared for this level of devastation,” she shared via Instagram on tuesday “We are very fortunate to have great friends who have helped us. We are thankful that the workers are working tirelessly to try and get power back for everyone. Praying for our city and everyone affected tonight.”
Maren Morris
Country singer Maren Morris tried to stay warm as she posted an update in her warmest winter outfit. .

Kaitlyn Bristowe
The Bachelet‘s Kaitlyn Bristowe he was able to find solace at a friend’s house during the storm.
“As a Canadian, I thought they were being so dramatic, but no. This has been wild,” he said via his Instagram story on Tuesday. “Grateful for the power to friends. Puzzles are medicine for my anxiety.”
Reese Witherspoon
actress Reese Witherspoon he couldn’t believe the pictures he saw outside Nashville.
“As a Nashville native, I have never seen this amount of destruction in my hometown. The aftermath of this storm is keeping 200,000-220,000 people without power since Saturday. People are freezing. 8 people have died,” he wrote on Instagram on Wednesday, January 28. “Roads and power are unmoved.”
