Samsung today preview a privacy feature that will prevent others from peeking into your phone’s screen and viewing its contents.
While the company did not provide specifics about the technology, it did say that Galaxy smartphone owners will be able to control what others can see on their phones, based on the privacy protections they need.
The Korean tech company says that users will be able to customize this feature to work with specific apps or when entering passcodes, PINs, patterns, or passwords, with various settings to adjust the visibility of content on the screen.
The feature is likely to be launched with the company’s upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra.
“Our phones are our most private places, but we use them in the most impersonal places…That’s why Samsung is unveiling a new layer of privacy to protect our phones from shoulder surfing everywhere. the company noted in the newsroom announcement.
The company added that you can also hide certain parts of the phone from onlookers, such as the notification pop-up area. Samsung says it uses a mix of hardware and software to achieve the results.
An online tipster named Ice Universe sent a picture on X about the feature, showing how the empty notification area is out in the open. This means that the owner of the smartphone will be able to see the content, but the person sitting next to him may not be able to see it. If these features work, people may not need to buy them separately privacy protector.

Using a smartphone in public places can be dangerous. When a user enters personal information, such as a password, anyone watching can see the details. A few years ago, The Wall Street Journal reports that thieves often watch users enter passcodes and use that info to lock victims out of their accounts. To prevent this from happening, Apple released the “Stolen Device Protection” update in iOS 17.3 which requires users to use FaceID or Touch ID before changing sensitive settings or accessing saved payment methods.
Samsung has not given a release date for the feature or the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Reports indicate that the company will continue event in February to launch the device.
