cardi b he may have been born and raised in the Bronx, but don’t expect to see the rapper wearing New York Yankees pinstripes.
“I’m a big baseball fan. You know I’m a Red Sox fan,” Cardi, 33, he told NFL Network Cameron Wolfe in an interview at Denver’s Empower Field at Mile High after Cardi’s boyfriend, Stefon Diggsand the New England Patriots defeated the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship game on Sunday, January 25.
Cardi grew up in the South Bronx neighborhood of Highbridge after moving with her family from Washington Heights.
“It’s great that we’re keeping it in New England,” Cardi said after the Patriots’ win, which earned them a spot in Super Bowl LX against the Seattle Seahawks on Feb. 8.

Cardi explained her loyalty to the Red Sox a video posted by the Boston legend David Ortiz in October 2018.
“I know you all don’t understand, I know you don’t,” he said. “But if you’ve known me for a long time, you know I’ve always been a Red Sox fan. And I’m from Highbridge, so I literally lived nine blocks from Yankee Stadium. But you know, my dad’s a Red Sox fan. My grandfather’s a Red Sox fan. It runs in my blood!”
during an interview about Elvis Duran and the Morning Show in September 2025, Cardi said she was “a real Red Sox fan” because the team had “all the best Dominican players.”
“I come from a Red Sox family,” Cardi added. “Sometimes people say, ‘Oh, imagine if you performed for a Yankees game,’ and stuff like that. I’d love it, of course.”
Still, Cardi admitted that if she performed at a Yankees event, she would feel “like a traitor.”
Cardi and Diggs, 32, have been dating since late 2024. The couple welcomed their first baby, a son, in November 2025.
The rapper has been a vocal supporter of the Patriots during their amazing Super Bowl run, which has been fone for Diggs to experience.
“I wasn’t a football girl before I converted,” Diggs told the media on Wednesday, Jan. 21. “I’m grateful to have her in my corner. She’s an amazing woman. (I’m) going to continue to build that relationship. You know I don’t talk too much about my personal life. But she’s an amazing woman. Hopefully I can see her grow and appreciate her.”
Diggs is headed to the first Super Bowl of his 11-year career in the middle legal issues off the field.
The Patriots star was charged with felony strangulation or drowning and misdemeanor assault in December 2025, for an alleged physical altercation with his live-in chef. The woman claimed Diggs owed her money, and he choked her and threw her on a bed when she confronted him.
Diggs has denied the allegations and currently has a court date set for Feb. 13, five days after the Patriots play in the Super Bowl.
