If your Gmail account didn’t seem to work on Saturday, you’re not alone. But Google says the issue has been resolved.
At official status dashboard for Google Workspace suggested that the problem started around 5 a.m. Pacific on Saturday morning, with users experiencing “email misclassification in their inboxes and additional spam warnings.”
For me, that means my Primary inbox is filled with messages that normally appear in my Promotions, Social, or Updates inboxes, and spam warnings appear on emails from known senders. Other users complained on social media “all spam goes straight to inbox” and the Gmail filter appears “sudden breakup.”
Google’s dashboard was updated with messages throughout the day Saturday saying the company is still working to resolve the issue. Later on Saturday afternoon, Google posted that the issue was “fully resolved for all users.”
“Some Gmail users are experiencing email misclassification in their inbox, delaying receiving emails,” the company said in a dashboard update. “In addition, the danger of spam misclassification from this incident may exist for messages that have been received before the resolution of the problem.”
The company also said it “will publish an analysis of the incident once it has completed its internal investigation.”
