Teenager charged after stabbing father in front of grandmother


A 19-year-old man is in police custody after allegedly stabbing his father to death at his home.

On Wednesday, January 21, police were called to a neighborhood in Mobile, Alabama, where they found Mark Prince dead in the front yard. He had reportedly been stabbed multiple times, according to the CBS affiliate WKRG. It is unclear whether the stabbing occurred inside or outside the residence. son of Mark, Samuel Princereportedly called his mother, who then called 911. When police arrived, the 19-year-old was still at the scene. He was later arrested in connection with his father’s death.

The prosecution claims that the altercation took place in front of the teenager’s grandmother. While authorities believe Samuel premeditated the murder, a possible motive remains unclear as the investigation continues.

After Samuel’s arrest, the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office asked for his bond to be set at $1 million. However, the judge presiding over the case set his bond at $750,000 on Friday, January 23. If he is released, he will be electronically monitored.

Samuel’s next appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, January 28.

Neighbors were bewildered by the brutal killing. A neighbor told reporters the father and son had once been “like two peas in a pod”, but admitted they hadn’t seen him since he was about 12, as the teenager just “pretty much stayed at home”.

Another person called Mark, 67, a “dear person” to them and their family.

“We love him — we’re definitely going to miss him,” the neighbor said at the time. “I wouldn’t have thought in a million years that this, today, would be happening the way it has.”

Although they did not witness the attack themselves, a third bystander said her husband had seen “a person” on the floor while looking out the window.

“At first he thought it was clothes, but when he realized it was a person, you know, the police had come in a car, and they were all gathered,” the neighbor explained. “And at that point, more police came and, my God, it was a circus.”

a woman, Lucy Thompsonwho lived across the street from the Prince home, compared the situation to a “nightmare.”

Both Thompson and his son, Jawuane Orangethey were at home at the time of the stabbing.

“I didn’t hear anything. When the first cop got there, the siren wasn’t on. So if you weren’t outside, you’d never know anything was going on,” Orange said. WKRG. “I was the first one out. Thompson also described the victim as a “quiet, level-headed” type of person who “kept in isolation for the most part.”

“I mean, he’d come, he’d visit my husband, he’d visit with us, you know. We’d laugh, we’d talk. We had a bike or something needed fixing? Air in the tire? He fixed it. We borrowed tools,” she continued. “He will be greatly missed.”
