While she refused to take sides in the feud, the podcaster said she could understand why fans of the 26-year-old Brooklynite may believe Posh Spice had a negative “mother-child” dynamic with her son.

“I also saw why people would believe that about her because she’s been under public scrutiny since, what, 1995? Like, this has been going on for a long time. Literally our whole lives,” she said. “So people already have this perception of her and then they’re like, ‘Well, she’s insecure and she’s this and that,’ and then they’re like, ‘Oh, well, she fits this mold of putting that on her kids and wanting her kids to be that.’

Hailie pointed out that while Brooklyn is at odds with Victoria and David, that doesn’t seem to be the case with her siblings. (Victoria and David are also parents Romeo23 i cross, 20, and daughter Harper, 14.)

“His other two children, however, have been supportive of him in the situation,” Hailie explained. “Then people say, ‘OK, if there are five people who say, ‘No, that’s the truth,’ and one person who doesn’t, maybe there’s something to it. I don’t know I guess we’ll find out.”

After years of unconfirmed whispers about Brooklyn and Nicola’s fractured relationship with Victoria and David, the hot sauce entrepreneur confirmed the animosity via an Instagram post shared on Monday, January 19.

“I have been silent for years and have made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak up for myself and tell the truth only about some of the lies that have been published,” Brooklyn wrote.

He continued: “I don’t want to reconcile with my family. I’m not controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”

In the lengthy statement, Brooklyn accused his parents of trying to “ruin” his marriage to Nicola and pointed the finger at Victoria specifically for several alleged incidents that exacerbated tensions.

“Performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been an element of the life I was born into. Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths they will go to put countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade,” he said. “But I think the truth always comes out.”

Neither Beckham has officially commented on Brooklyn’s statement. However, David spoke to CNBC at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday, January 20 about using social media more broadly.

David commented who tried to educate their children about the online world.

“Kids can make mistakes, that’s how they learn. So that’s what I try to teach my kids,” he said. “But you know, sometimes you have to let them make those mistakes too.”
