The Bling Ring: formed by Rachel Lee, Nick Prugo, Alexis Neiers, Courtney Ames i Diana Tamayo – became famous for stealing approximately $3 million in cash and belongings Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, Audrina Patridge and many more from 2008 to 2009.
The teenagers and twenty-somethings became household names after their arrests in 2010, with their infamous antics becoming the focus of two films (one directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Emma Watson) and a book by New York Times best selling author Nancy Jo Sales.
Although Neiers and Prugo were willing to say so his side of history for Netflix The Real Bling Ring: Hollywood Heistthe pretty wild Alum revealed that he never saw the movie based on his infamous past.
“I’m a busy mother of two,” she said Weekly entertainment in September 2022. “If I sit down for two hours, it won’t be to watch The Bling Ring. When I was filming this documentary, they showed me clips of the movie and asked me for my opinion on it. It’s too easy.”
According to Neiers, the successful film did not correctly represent their perspective. “That’s what’s so frustrating when you have someone as brilliant as Sofia Coppola and an actor as wonderful as Emma Watson working together on a film,” he continued. “You have this opportunity to do something really cool and dig deep and look at the complexities, but it’s lazy.”
Prugo, for his part, also influenced it his involvement in the thefts more than a decade later. “I’ve always been the type of person to do what I had to do to get what I wanted. But I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would get to the level of criminality that he did,” he shared on The Real Bling Ring: Hollywood Heist that same month.
