Meghan Trainor is opening up about her decision to welcome baby #3 via surrogate.
“It wasn’t our first choice, but we had endless conversations with our doctors on this trip, and this was the safest way for us to continue growing our family,” Trainor, 32, said. people in an interview published on Wednesday, January 21. “We are eternally grateful for this choice.”
Trainor continued, “I want people to know that surrogacy is another beautiful way to build a family. It’s not something to whisper or judge. It’s rooted in trust, science, love and teamwork. Every family’s journey looks different and they’re all extremely valid.”
Trainor and her husband, Daryl Sabarasurprised fans on Tuesday, January 20, with the announcement they had welcomed a daughter named Mikey Moon via substitute on Sunday, January 18th. The couple also share sons Riley, 4, and Barry, 2.
“Our baby girl Mikey Moon Trainor has finally made it into the world thanks to our amazing superwoman surrogate,” she captioned an Instagram post on Tuesday. “We are eternally grateful to all the doctors, nurses and teams who made this dream possible.”
Trainor continued: “We are in love with this beautiful girl. Riley and Barry have been so excited that they even got to choose her middle name. Now we are going to enjoy our family time, I love you all 🩷🥹🎀.”
Along with the announcement, Trainor shared photos of herself tearfully enjoying skin-to-skin contact with Mikey, as well as shots of Riley and Barry marveling at their little sister.
The “Still Don’t Care” singer said. people that he had an “amazing” experience working with his replacement, whom he has not identified.

“Our surrogate is one of the most selfless, strong and loving people I have ever met. We felt so connected throughout the journey, and I will always be grateful for the care and love she showed our daughter,” she explained. “He gave us the greatest gift of our lives. He graciously answered our many texts to make sure we were okay.”
Before welcoming Mikey, Trainor, who published a pregnancy and parenting book called Dear Future Mama in 2023, opened up about the struggles she faced during and after her first two pregnancies.
Trainor said people that she suffered from PTSD after Riley’s birthas he struggled with breathing problems and spent several days in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
“Usually when you’re sewing for 45 minutes, you’re like, ‘Look at my beautiful baby.’ We have done it. That’s it.’ But I was lying there alone,” he said. “At this point, I was so high, I was calling my mom, and she’s crying on the phone, like, ‘Are you okay?’ And I said, “We’re good.” And then when I tell people what happened, they say, ‘Jesus Christ,’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah, it was a little messy, wasn’t it?'”
After returning home from the hospital, Trainor said she had trouble sleeping at night because of the traumatic experience.
“I’d be crying and say to Daryl, ‘I’m still on the table, man. I’m stuck there. I can’t remember that I’m in bed and I’m safe at home,” she continued. “I had to learn how traumatic it was.”
Later, during her pregnancy with Barry, Trainor developed gestational diabetes.
“I’ve been on a fitness journey since I recovered. And it started when I was pregnant. I had gestational diabetes,” she told KIIS FM in November 2025. “And I was like, ‘Oh, I’ve got to learn about health and fitness.’ … Now I’m obsessed with how my hormones are? How’s my gut? Because I just want to feel good.”
