An application to boycott American products rises to the top of the Danish App Store

European consumers are fighting the US after Trump’s threat to control Greenland, a Danish territory. As a result, two mobile apps that offer a way to determine if a product is made in America, and then suggest local alternatives, have risen to the top of the Danish App Store in recent days.

The Danish App Store serves users in Greenland and Denmark, and also for Google Play.

The increase in downloads comes as Danish consumers has organized a grassroots boycott of American-made products, which also includes canceling US holidays and canceling subscriptions to US-based streaming services, such as Netflix.

Between iOS and Android, two apps, And USA and Made by O’Meter, has entered the top 10 this month, according to new data from a market intelligence provider Appfigures.

The former, NonUSA, became the No. 1 app on Wednesday, after jumping from No. To use the app, users scan the product’s barcode, then view the product’s origin information on their iPhone. It also recommends local Danish alternatives that users can purchase.

Currently, the five largest markets in the application are Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Iceland, which represents the Nordic alliance in the boycott of American products.

Made O’Meter, available on iOS and Android, has a smaller footprint, but is currently the No. 5 app in the App Store.

Combined, average daily downloads for NonUSA for iOS, Made O’Meter for iOS, and Made O’Meter for Google Play have increased by 867% (or about 9.7x) over the past seven days, compared to the previous week.

Of course, the number of Danish App Store downloads per day is quite small, compared to larger markets like the U.S. In Denmark, it only takes a few thousand downloads a day to reach the top of the App Store. In total, the Danish iOS App Store sees around 200,000 downloads per day across all apps, Appfigures notes.

Other apps currently in the top 10 of the Danish App Store include the travel app Rejsekort (perhaps helpful for rescheduled travel plans!), and other local services. Other US-based apps in the chart above include Store, ChatGPT, and Microsoft Authenticator.
