VCs who have backed OpenEvidence are apparently not worried OpenAI and Anthropic new health information products.
It’s Wednesday, the beginning declare which raised an additional $250 million in Series D funding at a valuation of $12 billion, led by Thrive Capital and DST.
That is double the value of the last raise in October: $ 200 million $6 billion, led by GV. It has now raised a total of $700 million, the company said, from backers including Sequoia, Nvidia, Kleiner Perkins, Blackstone, Bond, Craft Ventures, Mayo Clinic, and others.
OpenEvidence is an AI-powered medical information platform, similar to WebMD for the previous internet generation, but aimed at doctors. This puts it somewhat more in competition with Anthropic’s Claude for Healthcareintended for patients, payers and providers, whereas ChatGPT’s new health product more consumer oriented.
The company said its free, ad-supported platform provided 18 million clinical consultations from verified healthcare professionals in the US in December alone. That compares to roughly 3 million searches per month a year ago. It also said that it has exceeded $ 100 million in revenue.
