Three journalists worked for the committee overseeing Egyptian aid in Gaza and were documenting the newly established camp.
At least 11 Palestinians, including two children and three journalists, have been killed and six others wounded in Israeli strikes on Gaza since dawn, according to Gaza’s health ministry.
The ministry’s director general, Munir al-Bursh, told Al Jazeera that the photojournalist who died when his vehicle was hit on Wednesday worked for the Egyptian Committee for Gaza Relief, which oversees Egypt’s aid operations in Gaza.

Anas Ghunaim, Abdul Rauf and Shaath Mohammad Kshta were documenting events on the ground in central Gaza near the so-called Netzarim corridor when they were hit by an Israeli strike, colleagues and medical officials told Al Jazeera. A fourth person was also killed in the attack, Al Jazeera’s team on the ground said.
Video footage circulated online showed his charred, bombed-out vehicle on the side of the road, smoke still billowing from the wreckage.
Mohammad Mansoor, a spokesman for the committee, told The Associated Press news agency that journalists were filming the newly established displacement camp. He said the attack took place about 5km (3 miles) from Israeli-controlled territory and that the vehicle was known to the Israeli military to belong to an Egyptian committee.
Israeli Army Radio quoted an Israeli security source as saying that the Israeli Air Force had targeted a vehicle in central Gaza, claiming that its occupants were using drones to gather intelligence on military forces.
Three deaths in the same family
In a separate attack in central Gaza, three Palestinians from the same family – including a child – were killed in eastern Deir al-Balah, sources at Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Hospital told Al Jazeera.
Sources said the dead included a father, his son and another relative.
In southern Gaza, a 13-year-old boy was shot dead by Israeli soldiers, an Al Jazeera team on the ground said.
The boy was shot while collecting firewood in the eastern town of Bani Suhela, the Associated Press reported, citing hospital staff.
Footage circulating online shows the boy’s father crying over his son’s body in a hospital bed.
A 32-year-old woman was shot dead in a separate attack in the Khan Younis neighborhood in southern Gaza, the Al Jazeera team said.
Two more Palestinians were killed in the attack north of the Strip, the Wafa news agency said.
Repeated ceasefire violations
Palestinian officials said Israel has repeatedly violated the United States-brokered ceasefire since it took effect on October 10.
Israel continues to restrict the access of food, medical aid and shelter materials to Gaza, where some 2.2 million people face dire humanitarian needs in cold weather, protected only by tents.
According to Israeli military statistics, Israel still has military control over large parts of Gaza, including much of the south, east and north, but, in reality, occupies the entire territory.
