French Prime Minister Lecornu pushed the 2026 budget through parliament without a vote




French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu invoked Article 49.3 of the Constitution on Tuesday to force part of his 2026 budget proposal through the deeply divided lower house of parliament – without a vote. Opposition parties, including the hard-left French Insurgent (LFI) and the far-right National Assembly (RN), were expected to table no-confidence motions in response.
