Hilary Duff appeared to get emotional as she sang a new song that fans believe is about her older sister, Hayley Duff.
Hilary, 38, returned to the stage for her first headline performance in 18 years on Monday 19 January at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London. the first Lizzie McGuire the star shot her Small rooms, big nerves tour, treating fans to old and new songs.
The actress and singer performed several new tracks taken from her upcoming album Luck… or somethingthat brand first studio LP in over a decade and will be released on February 20.
A topic titled “We don’t talk,” which seems to show he saidThe 2011 hit “Somebody That I Used to Know” has already gotten the Internet talking.
On the emotional tune, Hilary sings, “I don’t know when it happened / Not even sure what it was about,” alluding to a fractured relationship.
She continues: “Because we come from the same house, from the same blood.”

“People ask me how you doing / I want to say amazing, but the truth is I don’t know / What I always end up saying is how…” Hilary sings before launching into the chorus.
In the chorus, Hilary repeats the lines: “We don’t talk, we don’t talk / We don’t talk about anything anymore.”
During the second verse, Hilary alludes to some kind of rivalry, saying in the song’s theme, “And if it’s because you’re jealous / God knows I’d sell it all, then break up with your better half.”
Hilary later sings, “Let’s go out / I’ll listen to you, you’ll listen to me on the couch / Back to how we were when we were kids / Let’s break it up / So sick of being so sad / How we don’t talk and you won’t.”

Hilary didn’t share details about the song’s theme with the audience on Monday night, but as clips from her show began circulating on social media, fans wondered if it was about Haylie, who Hilary hasn’t been photographed with in public since 2019.
“WOW… Hilary Duff just sang We Don’t Talk and it’s 100% about Hailey. 👀 but it’s not bad at all. Basically telling her to come over,” one person wrote on X.
Another X user shared: “Sampling ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ Hilary Duff performed ‘We Don’t Talk’, a new song from her upcoming album about her sister Haylie. You can tell she’s emotional by the end of the song.”
In November 2025, Hilary spoke about the “family drama” in an interview with Rolling Stone talking about his musical comeback.
“I have this crazy connection with the fans that I’ve known since I was 9 or 10, and I just want to connect with them again,” he said. “We’ve been through a lot of the same things, whether it’s complicated relationships, anxiety, raising kids, divorce, trying to find yourself in adulthood, family drama… I finally felt safe and comfortable enough in my own family to come out and open up that part of me again.”
During Monday’s concert, Duff also serenaded fans with her hit songs “Wake Up” and “So Yesterday,” as well as her first live performance of “What dreams are made of” from The Lizzie McGuire Movie.
