Several people have been killed in an explosion in Kabul, Afghanistan, the Taliban’s interior ministry said.
The blast took place on Monday in the Shahr-e-Nau area of the capital, which is home to foreigners and is considered one of the safest areas in Kabul.
“According to preliminary reports, several people were killed and injured,” Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Mateen Kani told Reuters news agency, adding that details would be released later.
Explosions in Kabul and across Afghanistan have been rare since the Taliban returned to power Withdrawal of the United States in 2021But ISIL affiliates are still active in the country and carry out sporadic attacks.
