European Union leaders warned on Saturday of a “dangerous downward spiral” over US President Donald Trump’s pledge to impose ever-increasing tariffs on European allies until the US is allowed to buy Greenland. Ambassadors from 27 European Union countries will hold an emergency meeting on Sunday to discuss their response to the customs threat.
