Portugal is voting in a close presidential race, and the far right is expected to make it to the second round




Public opinion polls in Portugal show that far-right candidate Andre Ventura could win 24 percent, followed closely by socialist Antonio José Seguro, said Sarah Morris of FRANCE 24. Portugal may be holding its first round of presidential elections on Sunday. In the five decades since Portugal threw off its fascist dictatorship, only once before – in 1986 – had a presidential election required a runoff.
