“I’m going out to see her (in Los Angeles),” John, 74, shared on the Friday, Jan. 16, episode. today show “I’ve tried to talk her into coming home. I said, ‘Go back to Indiana, take the kids and live back in Indiana,’ but she won’t.”

Although it was a positive update, John, who has resided in Indiana since the 1970s, explained to the cohosts. Craig Melvin, Dyler Dreyer i Al Roker that his daughter is still suffering.
“You can’t say you’re cancer-free with the type of cancer she’s had for three years,” the “Jack and Diane” singer shared. “He has brain injuries. It came out of his back, just a tiny little spot, and over the last two years, it grew and got into his brain and lungs.”
On Thursday, January 15, Teddi made a special appearance on his iHeartRadio “Two T’s in a Pod” podcast. (The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Dolores Catania has been filling in for her while she rests and recovers.)
While sitting with the cohost Judge Tamrasoft toy shared an update about how it felt.
“I’ve been doing a lot of therapy, a lot of rest (and) a lot with family,” she revealed. “(It’s been) really trying to pull myself together because apparently I’m struggling with massive PTSD. (The PTSD was) from everything that happened. I didn’t really realize it, so I’m starting to feel a little bit better. The cloud is lifting.”
Through all the ups and downs of her health journey, Teddi has consistently done so he expressed gratitude for the support of his father.
“It’s been beyond,” Teddi shared during an appearance in July 2025 “The Jamie Kern Lima Show” podcast.. “The things I wouldn’t be able to do without my dad, not just for financial reasons. With all these medical treatments and everything, he’s stepped in. He’s helped me get a nurse. He calls me every day. He makes sure I’m okay.”
Although John plans to travel the country this summer as part of his Dancing Words tour, the Grammy winner has no plans to stop his daily visits with Teddi.
“It’s been 10 months since my brain surgery and I’m so grateful to @johnmellencamp for continually being there for me and my family the whole time,” Teddi previously wrote via Instagram in October 2025. “I love you so much Cougs. Thanks for everything ❤️.”
