During the Thursday, January 15 episode of the hit HBO series Max, Langdon (Ball) received a patient in triage who closed one of his eyes while trying to put on false eyelashes. He asked Langdon if he could see Dr. J, whom he did not know.
Roorbach she is expected to appear in more episodes as Langdon discovers how to help his illness. The actress has been dating Ball since late 2023, according to her social media posts. On screen, Ball’s return to The Pitt Season 2 comes after her character’s tumultuous arc.
The Pitt, which premiered on HBO Max in January 2025, a group of employees followed in the emergency room of a fictional hospital in Pittsburgh doing a single 15-hour shift. The first half of the season showed Dr. Santos (Isa Briones) at odds with her supervisor, Dr. Langdon, leading some viewers to express their frustration with Santos, who was an intern working her first shift at the fictional Trauma Medical Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Santos was ultimately right about Langdon stealing drugs from the hospital. During an episode in March 2025, Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) angrily confronted Langdon about it, and the senior resident admitted that he developed an addiction after being medicated after an injury.

Max“He refers to hurting his back while helping his parents move and that happens frequently. He goes to a doctor who gives him painkillers and then it’s habit-forming painkillers. It happens all the time. It happens to people I know who are very, very high functioning,” Ball exclusively said. Us Weekly at that time. “You see this opioid problem that’s getting rich all over the country. It’s really sad because it’s not people who never set out to become addicted. It’s people who trust and get caught in a trap. That’s part of what happened with Langdon.”

“All the credit goes to our creator R. Scott Gemmill and the writers because it’s never who you think when it comes to addiction,” Ball said of Langdon acknowledging his problem. “Addiction is a disease and it’s a disease that a lot of people struggle with, including a lot of people I know.”
According to the actor, the writers’ room was “too great to be really measured” in the hints and clues leading up to the reveal.
“(It was also about) making sure we portray this addiction as accurately, humanely and responsibly as possible,” he continued. “It has been an incredible pleasure and honor to be a part of telling this story.”
For Season 2, Langdon go back to the emergency room after going to rehab, which will continue to be addressed on screen.
“Coming out of rehab and doing some soul searching, maybe I need some encouragement,” Ball told Us in September 2025 of his character.
