Hilary Duff sings about ‘Looking at Porn’ in new song ‘Roommates’


Hilary Duff released his latest single, “Roommates,” afterward mocking it on social media earlier this month, and it’s even faster than those early snippets suggested.

The Younger Alum, 38, released the full track and music video on Thursday, January 15, describing it in a press release as “a song about when life is life, baby.”

She added: “It’s this ache for a wilder, freer time, before days were swallowed up by carpools, budget talks, grocery runs, and letting old or new insecurities creep in. It’s the restless buzz of wanting to find your way back, to your own pace, to your person, to yourself.”

In “Roommates,” Duff details a relationship that got off to a rocky start but seems to be on its last legs.

“I just want the beginning, I don’t want the end,” he sings in the chorus. “I want the part where you say ‘damn’ / Behind the dive bar, giving you the nod / Then come home late and wake up your roommates.”

He adds, “We used to sweep under the bed and we practically became roommates / I’m knocking on the front door / but you don’t look at me anymore.”

Later in the song, Duff ramps up the line about self-indulgence, singing, “I’m touching myself, watching porn / Cause you don’t even look my way.”

Duff already teased “Roommates” via Instagram on Jan. 7 amid speculation that she was part of the group of “toxic” mothers. Ashley Tisdale French wrote in an essay for New York Magazine‘s the cut. while The French representative denied that the piece was about Duff and other famous moms, incl Meghan Trainor i Mandy MooreDuff’s husband, Matthew Buthe raised his eyebrows when he posted a parody of the article via Instagram

“A group of moms tells it all through a dad’s eyes,” Koma’s fake post read. “When you’re the most tone-obsessed deaf person on earth, other moms tend to focus on their little ones.”

Koma, 38, and Duff tied the knot in 2019. The duo share daughters Banks, 7, Mae, 4, and Townes, 20 months. Duff also shares son Luca, 13, with ex-husband Mike Comrie.

Koma, who is also a musician, co-wrote “Roommates” and previous single “Mature” with Duff. His highly anticipated new album, Luck… or something will be released on Friday, February 20.

“I always knew it was going to come back at some point, but I didn’t have a note on the phone until I started talking seriously with Matt about what the new music might sound like,” the former Disney Channel star said.
