Top Rank has announced the sponsor fights for Emanuel Navarrete’s February 28 co-headlining fight with Eduardo Núñez, filling out a card that will mix the main event with veterans.
Headlining the undercard is a welterweight bout between undefeated Philadelphian Tahmir Smalls and veteran Abel Ramos. Smalls enters the fight at 16-0 after a decision win over Jose Roman Vazquez. The match represents a step against a proven man who fought Mario Barrios in a draw in 2024.
According to Smalls, the fight is intended to confirm his position in the division, but Ramos described the opportunity as an opportunity to prove himself again after a competition against the highest level.
There was confusion in the order of the fight. It has been reported by several media that the match could be a lightweight competition between Emiliano Vargas and Argentine Agustin Ezequiel Quintana. Vargas remains undefeated and continues to push hard, but Quintana brings credibility after handing Marc Castro his first professional loss late last year.
Also on the card is a matchup of undefeated super bantamweights, with Arturo Cardenas vs. Jordan Martinez. Cardenas has a deep professional profile, while Martinez relies on strength, stopping the opponent at all times and avoiding scorecards since his debut.
Both fighters positioned the fight as an opportunity to get closer to contention in a crowded field.
The 28th of February will be held in Arizona and Navarrete is headlining the joint effort. With several undefeated fighters and a number of career milestones under the card, the card reflects Top Rank’s effort to balance the brand with forward-thinking talent.
