Man admits to son he stabbed ‘cheating’ woman and ‘sat with her’ as she died


A Missouri man has been arrested after police allege he called his son to confess to stabbing his wife to death to “cheat” and told him he “sat with her” while she bled before fleeing their home.

Malang Akbari has been charged with first degree murder for killing his wife, Manhaz Akbariaccording to affidavit of probable cause seen by Us Weekly.

After calling his son to confess to the crime, the son went to his parents’ residence. Upon arrival, the son found his mother unresponsive on the kitchen floor, bleeding. Police said Malang, 46, left home in “the family vehicle” with his 18-month-old and 12-year-old daughter after he killed his wife.

Later that day, police officers stopped Malang’s car and took him into custody without incident. He was reported to have left the 18-month-old with a relative before being arrested, while police confirmed the 12-year-old has also been found safe.

“I sacrificed everything for her,” Malang told police after killing his wife, according to the probable cause affidavit. He also claimed that “there was no other option” for him.

He went on to tell police that he “believed there was infidelity within the marriage”, adding that he also suspected his wife had “tampered with his food”. However, it is currently unclear what exactly he thinks he did with his food.

“She confronted (Manhaz Akbari) in her kitchen for cheating,” the affidavit said. “(Manhaz Akbari) told her that if he did anything to her, she would report him to law enforcement. (Malang Akbari) said he got a kitchen knife from a box in the kitchen and continued their argument.”

Malang told police that Manhaz “started screaming and looking around the kitchen.” He then alleged that he appeared to be “looking for a knife too”, so he stabbed her before she could do the same to him.

“He picked her up and put her on the ground while she was bleeding,” the affidavit continued, according to Malang’s account of the incident. “He got a pillow, placed it under (Manhaz Akbari’s) head and sat with her in the kitchen while she bled.”

Malang also admitted to the police that he called his son to tell him that he had killed his wife. He added that he also contacted other family members and advised them to check on Manhaz, according to the affidavit.

“I loved her,” Malang told police about his wife. “I was wrong. I’m sorry.”

Malang is currently being held at the Cole County Detention Center, according to online records reviewed by Us Weekly. He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday, Jan. 16 in Cole County.

It is currently unclear whether Malang has retained legal representation or filed a statement following his arrest.

If Malang is found guilty of first degree murder in the state of Missouri, he will be given a harsh sentence that could be life in prison without parole or even the death penalty.
