Bad Bunny‘s Super Bowl Halftime Show It’s now less than a month away, but fans are perplexed by one detail: a height requirement to participate in the concert.
Two different job postings have appeared online for on-field roles on the show, and both specify that shorter fans need not apply. Applications for the field team (now closed) noted that prospective hires had to be between 5-foot-7 and 6-foot-6. A second notice for “field allocation” was even stricter, asking applicants to be between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-1.
Little fans of the 31-year-old Puerto Rican superstar weren’t too happy about the strange requirement, with one user X writing: “Finding out I don’t meet the height requirement to be part of the Superbowl Halftime Show with Bad Bunny is some of the worst news to start the year.” Another disappointed fan added: “Damn the bad bunny who has a height requirement of 5’7 🥲 there’s my chance.”
According to the field equipment application sitemembers of this group are “part of the core team responsible for setting up and taking down the halftime show stage field.” Meanwhile, the camp cast will apparently appear on stage alongside Bad Bunny.
“Field Cast will be on the field as performers in the halftime show, learning and performing blocking and movement alongside the lead artist,” says the job description provided by Backlit LLC. “This is a disciplined role that requires focus, athleticism and commitment as part of one of the most watched live productions in the world.”
The description goes on to note that the field cast will not be dancing, but will instead “perform structured movement and blocking as part of the larger production.”
While it’s unclear exactly what the field cast will do, the description calls for applicants with a “marching arts background” to have participated in “marching band, color guard, drill team, or similar” events. Some famous drilling rigs have height requirements; the US Marine Corps’ Silent Drill Platoon, for example, requires participants to be between 5-foot-11 and 6-foot-1.
While some fans may be hoping to blur their heights with apps, a Backlit representative said USA Today on Monday, January 12, that “height requirements will be very important for participation in this and will be verified through the trial process.”
Producers are apparently looking for contestants who are about the same height as Bad Bunny, who is 5-foot-11. The Grammy winner was announced as Headlining the halftime show in September 2025. While the news caused a reaction among some conservative commentatorsNFL commissioner Roger Goodell defended the choice during a press conference in October 2025.
“We’re sure it’s going to be a great show,” Goodell, 66, said at the time. “He understands the platform he’s on, and I think it’s going to be an exciting, united time.”
He noted that the decision was “carefully thought out”, adding: “I’m not sure we’ve ever selected an artist where we haven’t had any pushback or criticism. It’s pretty hard to do when you have literally hundreds of millions of people watching.”
Super Bowl LX airs on NBC Sunday, February 8 at 6:30pm ET.
