Rocha has pulled out of the Curiel Rematch after being hospitalized

Rocha and Curiel were scheduled to meet again after their fight in December 2024, a high-profile contest that resulted in Rocha’s dominant victory. One judge scored the fight, while the other two favored Rocha by four and eight points. The result was contested, and the speed and intensity of the fight created excitement for a quick rematch to be confirmed.

This time, the fight wasn’t even for a whole week.

Pugmire said Rocha’s condition worsened during the final weight cut, prompting medical attention and his removal from the event. No further information on his condition was immediately released, although the decision was described as precautionary.

Golden Boy Promotions is currently working to secure the card. The promoters are thinking of some old representatives to face Curiel, including Israel Mercado, as they try to save the main thing in a short time.

Raul Curiel remains on the card for now, although no candidate has been finalized. The event is scheduled to air on DAZN.

The situation again shows the sensitivity of events on heavy weight limits. Rocha has competed at welterweight throughout his career, but the group continues to train fighters as they age and develop.

This card quickly moved forward when the rematch was agreed upon. It opened immediately.
