The war itself is real. The notification has not yet been received.
A lightweight fight between Oleksandr Gvozdyk and Radivoje Kalajdzic has been finalized for the February 1 Paramount+ card at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, according to a veteran boxing reporter. And Raphael. It has not been officially announced, but the fight is over.
That quiet roll is fitting and fitting. It’s not a headline fight. It is part of the infrastructure.
Gvozdyk enters as a former WBC champion trying to find his rightful place at 175. Since his return from retirement, the Ukrainian southpaw has been well organized. He’s always sharp. Always discipline. You can control the space with its dose and time. What he did not do was force the division to respond to him.
Kalajdzic comes from a different direction. The Serbian boxer was undefeated until April 2024 when he lost to David Morrell. That fight made things clear. Kalajdzic can crack. He can press. But when forced to fight at high speed, he struggled to maintain order. This fight is his chance to show that losing to Morrell is a lesson rather than a curse.
The pair is perfect because it answers the silent questions for all men. For Gvozdyk, it takes consistency and urgency against a fighter who doesn’t wait. For Kalajdzic, it will test his composure against a seasoned technician at the championship level.
The fight is scheduled for a Paramount + card promoted by Zuffa, as part of the ongoing effort to create depth of fights in Apex events instead of chasing spectacle.
Rafael acknowledged the lack of ceremony when discussing the fight online, saying “it’s not officially announced but it’s a fight that will take place.”
That line is enough. It’s not a show. It’s a classified fight. And at light weight, those things are still there.
