While there were plenty of great new TV shows that will take on full lives with season two renewals, we’d be remiss if we didn’t honor some of our fallen soldiers.

‘boots’
Based on memory La Marina Rosa by Greg Cope White, boots follows closeted gay teen Cameron Cope (Miles Heizer), who, after facing bullying and isolation in high school, impulsively decides to join the Marines after graduation. Following his best friend Ray (Liam Oh) through the Marines’ rigorous six-week boot camp, Cope’s physical, mental and emotional limits are tested as he struggles to keep his true identity a secret.
Who knows if reaction of the White House had something to do with it boots’ cancellation, but regardless, the popular show’s untimely demise doesn’t seem very deserved. It was a top 10 hit on Netflix and received positive reviews from critics and fans alike, who praised the acting, writing, humor and thoughtful exploration of masculinity and outsiderness.
‘There is no good deed’
This black comedy starred Ray Romano i Lisa Kudrow follows three families competing for the same house: a 1920s Spanish-style villa. When empty-nesters Lydia (Kudrow) and Paul (Romano) decide to sell their beautiful house in a desirable Los Angeles neighborhood, they find themselves at the center of a real estate feeding frenzy, as three different families are convinced that buying the house will solve their problems. Meanwhile, the house is hiding a secret between Lydia and Paul that threatens to be exposed.
No good deed received positive reviews from critics and viewers, but the show was put on an indefinite hiatus in July 2025. Most people found the show to be an entertaining, twist-filled dark comedy with a satisfying conclusion and a great cast, including Abbi Jacobson, Dennis Leary, Teyonah Parris i Luke Wilson. Maybe Netflix thought that leaving the show on a high note meant they could drop it for good, but we strongly disagree.
‘millionaire’ bunker
In an extravagant underground bunker facility called Kimera Underground Park, two families who are part of the world’s elite come together for protection as nuclear war rages outside. However, the claustrophobic nature of the situation causes long-standing tensions between the families to surface, immediately creating conflict between them. But as the families struggle, all is not as it seems in the aerial or underground worlds.
Netflix quietly canceled the high-concept sci-fi drama after one season and just three months after debuting on the platform. The show featured an ambitious premise that was ripe for further exploration, and viewers enjoyed the series for being a wild ride that mixes Spanish soap opera with B-movie sci-fi.
‘The promenade’
This new Netflix drama was courtesy of Kevin Williamsonwho is most famous for writing the first scream film and creating the popular teen drama Dawson’s Creek. The Paseo Marítimo follows the Buckley family, who run a powerful fishing company and restaurant business in North Carolina. However, they have massive debts that threaten to swallow them whole, leading them down a dark path of criminal activity to keep their empire afloat.
Netflix’s decision to cancel The Waterfront after one season had some mixed reviews. Multiple outlets confirmed on Monday, August 25 that show creator Kevin Williamson received news of the cancellation and rushed to inform the cast and crew. In fact, it was considered a successand critics praised the show for its brooding, meaty atmosphere and beautifully fleshed out characters, with some describing it as great escapist viewing for the summer. The audience was amused the promenade, too Netflix really gets it wrong sometimes.
