Candace Cameron Bure recalls feeling “stuck” during the low points of her marriage

“Val and I will be married for 30 years next year, and it sure is been a rollercoaster,” Cameron Bure, 49, told the cohost Maddie Prewett during the Tuesday, January 13 episode of “The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast” when asked if she’s ever felt “stuck.”

Cameron Bure revealed that there have been “a lot of highs and there have been some really low lows” throughout their relationship.

“And I know during some of those low moments, I wouldn’t even say it’s low,” he said Fuller House the actress continued. “You’re kind of sitting in the shallows of the valley. When you say, ‘This isn’t the best, but that’s just life.’ We’ll get through it a little bit.”

Cameron Bure explained: “You just feel trapped and yet for us, we didn’t have the confidence or the direct courage to be honest enough with each other to say really hard things because I know it’s going to hurt your feelings and I know you’re going to hurt my feelings hearing it, saying it. Those moments in my life have stuck with you and sometimes you’ve stuck and sometimes you’ve stuck trapped. get out of it and get to the bottom of it, I know we can feel trapped.

Cameron Bure said he has felt “that nagging feeling, and you just know something’s not right, but you can’t put your finger on it.”

“You know you want your life to change, but you don’t know where to start,” she continued. “You don’t even know what to look for and what movement to start making, and then when you have a family, you have a husband, you have children, it’s like, again, I just know that something is not right in my life and I want to move it to another path, but how do I start, and how can I get my family on this path?”

Regular listeners of Cameron Bure’s podcasts are no strangers to her candid sharing the ups and downs of their marriage and personal life. She previously revealed how her son Lev, 25, helped her and Bure, 51, overcome some of those tough obstacles. (Cameron Bure shares children Lev, Natasha, 27, and Maksim, 23, with Bure.)

“Val and I went through a very, very rough season in our marriage,” she said Casa Dolç Nadal the actress said during a July 2025 episode of her podcast. “And we were like, ‘I don’t know, I don’t think we’re going to … make it.’ But at one point, Lev preached us, like, a 45-minute sermon on marriage. I just had his Bible open on the couch and he was just talking about it.”

“And I’ll never forget it, because he said, ‘You know, I know I’m not married. I’m just a little boy,'” Cameron Bure recalled. “‘So it’s probably hard to take marriage advice from someone so young (who) has never experienced it before. But I don’t need to be married to know what God’s word says.'”

Cameron Bure said that Lev “was such a calm voice that had so much wisdom behind it”, reiterating that she and Val “raised some pretty good kids”. (Lev got married Elliott Dunham at the beginning of 2024).

After giving helpful advice to his parents, Lev has continued to use his voice in ministry. Cameron Bure shared a clip via Lev’s Instagram preaching a church sermon last month, and the mother-of-three could be heard saying “Amen” in the background.
