A woman accused of sending her ex’s photos to her mother rolls her eyes in a press photo


A Rhode Island woman arrested earlier this month clearly didn’t have it, appearing to roll her eyes in a photo released by state authorities.

Woman from Coventry Stephanie Hopkins40, is accused of sending “explicit” images of a man with whom she had been in a relationship to the man’s mother, police alleged.

Hopkins was arrested shortly after 4 p.m. on New Year’s Day, Rhode Island State Police said in a statement. obtained by Patch.

Hopkins was arrested on a charge of unauthorized dissemination of indecent material.

The statement alleges Hopkins’ ex walked into a state police barracks in Wickford “and advised that his ex-girlfriend Stephanie Hopkins … sent explicit photos of himself from her old phone to her mother,” Patch reported.

An officer reportedly called Hopkins a short time later, and she told them the ex-boyfriend “abused her throughout their relationship and that he sent her mother the video that ‘(he) would send to the boys’ as retribution for his alleged abuse,” the Patch report said.

“Hopkins then informed Troopers that he believed (his ex) was only doing this as he was arrested for the same offense in May of 2025,” the report said.

Patch said it obtained court records showing that a 39-year-old man with the same name as Hopkins’ ex was arrested in May by Middletown police on charges of unauthorized dissemination of indecent material.

That man later pleaded no contest to the charge, according to Patch, and was sentenced to a mental health program, 10 days of house arrest and 11 months of probation.

In statements to investigators, the ex-boyfriend allegedly said “he had a brief intimate dating relationship with Hopkins and at the end of the relationship” on New Year’s Eve, he “returned a cell phone that was a gift from Hopkins. (He) stated that when he returned the phone, he left it as it was and would not have factory wiped it.”

That content included “several explicit videos and images he took of himself,” Patch reported.

He told police his mother received the incriminating images “at approximately 3 a.m. (New Year’s Day).” Hopkins allegedly sent the man’s mother “multiple explicit screenshots of him showing his genitalia.”

Officers then went to the mother’s home, where she confirmed receiving “videos and photos of her son from the number she had been using previously,” according to the report.

“While on scene, officers were shown the bathroom where the photos of the victim were taken,” the report says.

Hopkins has a pretrial conference scheduled for Jan. 27. It was unclear if he had entered a plea to charge her, and she does not yet have a lawyer with a record.

Us WeeklI called numbers associated with Hopkins to give her a chance to respond to the allegations, but she could not be reached.

It was unclear if he was actually rolling his eyes at the time the mugshot was taken.
