Some of the most beloved actresses in the film industry faced off in hopes of taking home one of the most coveted awards of the Golden Globes 2026.
Rose Byrne eventually won Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy If I had legs I would kick you during the Sunday, January 11, awards ceremony at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
“Of course I didn’t prepare anything, but I didn’t sing in this movie guys,” Bryne, 46, joked about being in the “musical or comedy” category. “Thank you very much. This is a shock. Thank you very much.”
Byrne went on to thank the writer/director Maria Bronstein and her brother George to be her date, as well as her parents who “bought Paramount+” so they could watch it from Sydney, Australia. Then she shouted at her husband Bobby Cannavale and revealed why she had to skip the big event.
“I want to thank my husband, Bobby Cannavale, who couldn’t be here because we have a bearded dragon and he went to a reptile show in New Jersey. Thanks, baby!”
The the rest of the contenders to Best Performance by a Female Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy category included Amanda Seyfried for The will of Ann Lee, Chase Infiniti for One battle after another, Cynthia Erivo for Evil: For good, Emma Stone for bugonia i Kate Hudson for Song Sung Blue.
Of the six nominees in the category, three were already Golden Globe winners before Sunday’s event. Stone, 37, previously won for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for La La Land in 2017 and Best Performance by a Female Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for poor things in 2024. Meanwhile, Seyfried, 40, won Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television for The abandonment in 2023, and Hudson, 46, took home the trophy for Best Performance by a Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for Almost Famous in the year 2001.
Seyfried is a four-time Golden Globe nominee and has received two nominations this year alone. In addition to his nomination by The will of Ann Leeshe was also nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television for Long and bright river.
Stone, meanwhile, has nine Golden Globe nominations in total, while Hudson has three.
For her part, Erivo, 39, has received five Golden Globe awards over the years, including Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Drama and Best Original Song for a Motion Picture. As for the 25-year-old Infiniti, it scored its first Golden Globe nomination this year.
