Sarah Jessica Parker was awarded with the Carol Burnett award during the days before the Golden Globe Awards 2026.
The 60-year-old actress accepted the award during CBS and Paramount+’s new annual prime-time special. Golden Nightwhich was broadcast on Thursday, January 8. Before accepting the award, Parker was honored by her husband, Matthew Broderick as well as friends Colman Domingo i Kristin Davis.
“To my loving family, my brilliant husband, Matthew Broderick, who has been my husband for just over 30 years, who gave me a family discount and all-pass to his acting and comedy masterclass,” she said. “And (their) dedication to the family we have made of our divine James, Will, Loretta and Tabitha. Oh God, I love you so deeply and admire you so much. The people you are becoming every day at home and at work I want to make you proud.”
Parker also has a shout out to his parents, team, Sex and the city co-stars and Burnett herself.
Before the Golden Night broadcast, Parker shared a Instagram photo of his award.
“It’s impossible to simply ‘caption’ my deep gratitude for the night that sent me back east with this platinum statue in the magical name of @itscarolburnett,” she wrote Thursday. “So if you have five minutes to listen to my deeply heartfelt words and also see the great Dame @helenmirren so deservedly honored (with the Cecil B. DeMille Award), tune in tonight to Golden Night on @cbstv and @paramountplus at 8p ET. X, SJ.”
The Golden Globes announced Parker as the winner of the Carol Burnett Award in November 2025, noting in a press release at the time that the honor “recognizes her contributions to the television industry both in front of and behind the camera.”
“Sarah Jessica Parker’s career embodies the very spirit of the Carol Burnett Award,” said the Golden Globes chairman. Helen Hoehne he said in a statement. “His pioneering impact on television and his dedication to storytelling across stage and screen have left an indelible mark on popular culture. We are honored to celebrate his extraordinary contributions to entertainment.”
The Carol Burnett Award was introduced at the Golden Globe Awards in January 2019. The honor is named after its first recipient, Burnett, who is now 92. Since then, it has been given to Ellen DeGeneres in 2020, Norman Lear in 2021, Ryan Murphy in 2023 and Ted Danson in 2025.
Beyond her new award, Parker has six Golden Globe wins and 14 nominations under her belt. She previously took home Outstanding Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for her role as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the city in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004. As a producer on the HBO show, it also won Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy in 2001 and 2002.
The Golden Night prime-time special focusing on Parker and Mirren’s honorary awards, giving viewers a wide-ranging look at their legacies and featuring personal stories, career retrospectives and special hosts. The show is part of Golden Week, a new week-long Golden Globes-branded experience on Paramount platforms to celebrate the upcoming Golden Globe Awards.
