Beverly Mitchell he’s fully embracing being a good friend instead of a “funny one”.
“So this year is a discovery for me,” he said 7th Heaven44, the star said in one Instagram reel uploaded on Monday January 5th. “And one of the things I’ve always struggled with is that I’m the friend who doesn’t get invited to the fun stuff.”
Mitchell continued, “I’m not the fun guy. I’m not the guy you want to take on vacation or hang out with your girls or be in a big group for a long time.”
The actress confessed that she used to be “really upset” about not being “invited to something”, but a “very wise” friend gave her a new perspective.
“She said, ‘Are you comfortable in groups?’ and I said, “No, not particularly, I like individualized attention.” She says, “So how about the fact that maybe your friend knew you weren’t comfortable in that situation and didn’t want to put you in that position because she knows you’re uncomfortable? Because he knows you like one-on-one conversations,” he mused. “I’m not good at small talk. I like to go deeper. I like to really know what’s going on in someone’s life.”
Mitchell explained that she thrives as a friend when she has a “deep connection” with that person.
“This is the friend that I am. This is how I show myself best to my friends. When I can really peel back those layers of the onion,” he shared. “So this year I’m fully embracing how I present myself to my friends and what kind of friend I am. I’m the friend you call when things get sticky; I’m the friend you call when things go wrong. I’m the friend you call when you’re trying to get through something. We all need those kinds of friends.”
While she agreed not to be the “funny, funny friend,” Mitchell admitted she was “proud” to be “the friend that shows up.
“I’m also the girl who doesn’t have a billion friends and that’s okay too,” she said. “I think this year is about embracing the things that we are and letting go of all the things that we weren’t.”
Mitchell’s heartfelt video resonated with fans, who shared that they had been through similar situations.
“Love authenticity. As I get older I realize how great it is to be comfortable with yourself and only have those few real friends. Keep sharing ✨🤍,” one user wrote in the comments section.
Mitchell responded, “Should we make this a thing? Honest talk.”
Another fan told Mitchell that her message was something she “had to hear.”
“I’m so sorry and I’ve never heard anyone else say it. ❤️❤️❤️,” she confessed, to which Mitchell replied, “I’m so happy! That’s why I felt compelled to share!”
