Author Emily Henry has heard of Joe Keery i Dylan O’Brien casting rumors, and has some thoughts.
Henry, 34, said Us Weekly exclusively that he could “definitely” see either actor playing Miles in the upcoming 2024 adaptation of his novel, Funny Story.
“I don’t imagine an actor when I’m writing, but after there’s a book that starts to be adapted, I do start to think about it,” Henry explained to the People we meet on vacation will open in Los Angeles on Tuesday, January 6. “Those actors are definitely on my Miles mind list. I think both of them would make perfect sense.”
Henry made it clear that he doesn’t yet have “a short list” for the role.
“But I could definitely see it and I think they would be amazing,” he added.

When it came to details about their upcoming adaptations, Henry kept his lips closed. (Apart from Funny Storyhis books Reading Beach, Book lovers i Happy place are all set to come to life on screen.)
“Everything is moving, and I feel like everyone’s been really excited about this movie, and I feel like it’s helped everything get momentum,” he said, referencing. People we meet on vacationwhich premieres on Netflix on Friday, January 9. “I look forward to having more concrete updates to share. But I can say that everything is still in motion.”

“It’s surreal. I’ve had time to adjust because I’ve seen it five times now, but I like it more and more,” said the writer. we. “I feel like I’m finally at the point where I can watch it and I’m watching it like a movie. I’m not just worrying about things and wondering.”
Henry said we that the film is “so good” and teased how it elevates his novel.
“It’s really fantastic and magical, but I’m also really proud of everyone who worked on this because this really is their baby,” she continued. “I have the book. I love the book. I’ll always be proud of the book, but they did something really special that I feel like takes the book and then does new things with it as well.”

That said, all of Henry’s favorite parts of his novel made it into the movie.
“The things that were my non-negotiables definitely did. I think we got 95 percent of what readers will expect, which I think is a great percentage for a book like this,” he shared. “The book is much longer than a movie, and I really feel like they found creative ways to squeeze and change, so that almost everything that readers expect to see, they get to see.”
