Author Emily Henry has heard of Joe Keery i Dylan O’Brien casting rumors, and has some thoughts.

“Everything is moving, and I feel like everyone’s been really excited about this movie, and I feel like it’s helped everything get momentum,” he said, referencing. She added: “They were based on the characters in the book, but they’re new creations and that was something I found really inspiring as a writer and want to think about further.”

That said, all of Henry’s favorite parts of his novel made it into the movie.

“The things that were my non-negotiables definitely did. I think we got 95 percent of what readers will expect, which I think is a great percentage for a book like this,” he shared. “The book is much longer than a movie, and I really feel like they found creative ways to squeeze and change, so that almost everything that readers expect to see, they get to see.”
