Nikki Glaser will return for a second year as host of the Golden Globes on January 11, 2026.
The comedian was a hit teasing at Ben Affleck, Adrien Brody i selena gomez at the 2025 ceremony, so producers wasted no time securing their talent for another year. With his second hosting stint just around the corner, Glaser has lifted the curtain on his preparation process.
“I didn’t know how hard it would be, writing-wise,” he admitted via the Golden Globes website in January 2026. “I wanted jokes that the people in the house and the people in the room could make, jokes that were funny but not too bad.”

Nikki Glaser is well rehearsed before Showtime
Ahead of her 2025 hosting debut, Nikki Glaser confirmed this And! news who practiced her Golden Globes monologue “93” times.
“(Tonight) will be the 94th time I’ve told some version of this,” he said. “I mean, it’s still changed even from the last time I said it to now, so we’re constantly making edits, trying to get through the jokes, trying to hit the right note and tone for the night. But it’s a lot of work.”

“That (cut) was so funny, and it was so nice to be like, ‘I’m just going to tell Stern anyway,'” she clarified. The Howard Stern Show. “And that you don’t want to do, because it’s like you’re accusing the people in this living room of being involved in it, and they might turn on you.”

Nikki Glaser asked for permission for some Golden Globes jokes

However, Glaser said CBS Mornings in January 2026 that he wouldn’t ask permission earlier for his 2026 Globes jokes.
“There are certain people I don’t even know what to say. Some of these jokes where you think, ‘OK, if I had their number, would I text them and ask them?’ And then I say, ‘You know what, maybe they’ll tell me no, and I know the joke isn’t that bad,'” he argued. “I’d rather ask for some forgiveness later at the after party when they’re drunk.”
Some celebrities are almost off limits
Nikki Glaser confided Gayle King activated CBS Mornings in January 2026, that celebrity seemed out of bounds.
“I’m rehearsing my monologue around LA, in the clubs here, and even any joke Julia Robertsthey’re not there,” he said. “You can’t make fun of America’s love. … They were booing, and I said, ‘Is he here?’ It’s crazy.”
Glaser wasn’t giving up, adding, “Whatever I end up saying about (Roberts), this is the most polished joke I’ve ever worked on because it’s so delicate.”
Overall, Glaser plans to focus more on the current generation of Hollywood stars than their legendary predecessors at the 2026 Globes.
“I’m a big fan of these people,” he noted on CBS Mornings. “It’s easy for me to brush off the newer group of actresses and actors who are younger than me. It’s like, ‘OK, I can make fun of you. I’m like a veteran.’ But when I grew up looking up to people, it’s a different approach this year.”
She continued: “You have to be very delicate about making jokes that won’t ruin anyone’s night. But you also want to give the people at home something to laugh about and you want to make fun of the people they’re dying to make fun of. The people at home want you to make fun of the A-listers.”
