Skylight debuts Calendar 2 to keep families organized

Skylight may have started as a digital picture frame, but today, the company is more focused on helping families stay organized with calendars, lists, meal planning tools and more.

At CES 2026, the company debuted its latest product: the Skylight Calendar 2, which offers a slimmer design than the original 15-inch calendar, but is smaller than the 27-inch wall-mounted Max Calendar. Like its larger counterparts, the new digital calendar app and family organizer also let you change the frame to a different color to better match your home decor.

The biggest selling point is not the digital screen itself, but the software and AI capabilities. The main feature – the calendar – is basically a mashup of all the family calendars from whatever service you use, whether it’s Google Calendar, iCal, Microsoft, or even your kids’ sports app, like TeamSnap.

The calendar is color-coded to see everyone’s schedule at a glance, and it’s possible to import a “calendar” that’s really just an email with some dates or a flyer sent to the junior’s backpack. (The latter is an AI feature where you take a photo of the paper and update the calendar with new events).

The company is also trying to solve other pain points for families such as managing grocery lists, appointment reminders, meal planning, and recipe discovery. Of course, it can still display family photos, if not used.

The app is well designed to be easy to read with simple navigation, pops of color, and even images that can be used by young children. For example, they can check assignments by looking for pictures, even if they can’t read yet. Parents also love the ability to plan meals, whether Tuesday is going to be taco night, or find recipes and prepare a shopping list. Skylight also comes in handy here, as it can automatically create a shopping list for you or even add it to the Instacart app.

Another smart AI feature lets you take a photo of what’s in your fridge and get recipe recommendations based on what’s in your hand.

The need for the system is clearly resonating with customers. Skylight, a bootstrapped and profitable company from day one, now has more than 1.3 million families using the digital calendar to date, and more to come as new designs ship.
