Hilary Duff’s Husband Calls Ashley Tisdale ‘Self-Obsessed’ and ‘Tone Deaf’


Hilary Duffthe husband of Matthew Buthas weighed on the drama caused by Ashley Tisdale Frenchrecent “toxic mom group” essay.

Leading to his Instagram stories on Tuesday, January 6, Koma, 38, shared a tongue-in-cheek “promo” of her own (fiction) the cut article

“A group of moms tell it all through the eyes of a dad,” Koma’s fake message read. “When you’re the most obsessed deaf person on earth, other moms tend to focus on their little ones.”

The text was written over a photo of Koma, who has been married to Duff, 38, since 2019, seriously posing on a couch for the camera as he New York TimesThe fashion title logo was inserted at the top of the photo. “Read my new interview with @thecut,” Koma joked above the cheeky creation.

The dig comes after French, 40, wrote a piece for the cutposted on Thursday, Jan. 1, about a “toxic mom group” she turned her back on, prompting the Internet to speculate if she was referring to her celebrity mom friend group that includes Duff, Mandy Moore, Megan Trainor and more

A later French representative denied the speculation in a statement a TMZ on Monday, January 5. The outlet noted that French’s rep added that her “Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group” article was written to highlight an issue related to women who have been excluded from a group of friends.

French’s essay read: “There’s a recent topic that’s been blowing up my phone like no other since I first wrote about it a few weeks ago. It’s a topic that’s had women messaging me to say ‘I feel seen’ and share their most emotional stories.”

The Musical Baccalaureate star, who shares daughters Jupiter, 4, and Emerson, 15 months, with her husband Christopher Frenchhe continued: “It’s one that has also had wannabe online sleuths trying to investigate like they’re on CSI (please don’t even try, what you think is true isn’t even close). The subject? Mother group drama.”

For Duff’s part, she shares three children with Koma: daughters Banks, 7, Mae, 4, and Townes, 20 months. Duff also shares a son, Luca, 13, with ex-husband Mike Comrie.

Ashley previously wrote about feeling lucky to find like-minded friends while pregnant during the coronavirus pandemic. Over time, however, the actress detailed how she began to feel disconnected from her fellow mothers.

“I remember being left out of a couple of group uploads, and I knew because Instagram made sure to feed me every Instagram photo and story,” she previously wrote. “I was starting to feel frozen out of the group, noticing all the ways they seemed to exclude me… I told myself it was all in my head, and it wasn’t a big deal. Still, I could feel a growing distance between me and the other members of the group, who didn’t seem to care that I wasn’t around much.”

He then sent a text message to the group, claiming he told them it seemed “too secondary for me and I don’t want to be a part of it anymore.”
