Josh Charles I had the honor of being part of it taylor swiftmusic video for “Fortnight,” but she couldn’t help but pick a bone with her fiance, Travis Kelceon the set
The good woman alum, 54, and his Society of Dead Poets to cost Ethan Hawke appeared in Swift’s 2024 music video as mad scientists experimenting with the singer. The video won the coveted Video of the Year award at MTV Video Music Awards 2024praise that Charles enjoyed during his appearance on Monday, January 5 The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
“I got a Moon Man. It was pretty cool,” Charles he said host Jimmy Fallon. “The Video Music Awards, when I was growing up, was the thing.”
He added: “The idea that came up just speaks to what an incredibly generous and incredible person Taylor Swift is.”
Fallon asked Charles about speculation that he “fought with Travis Kelce on set,” as Hawke, 55, previously alluded to in a September 2025 interview.
Charles clarified, “A fight? No, he exaggerated that. It wasn’t a fight.”
The The Handmaid’s Tale The actor went on to explain that he called out the 36-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end for the Chiefs’ win over his hometown team, the Baltimore Ravens, in 2023.
“I’ve always liked Travis Kelce. I just thought he was cool,” Charles said. “But they beat us in the AFC championship game that year, they beat the Ravens, he was a real jerk that year. So I fell off him.”
Fast forward to filming the “Fortnight” music video, Charles said: “When I met him I was like, ‘You know I’ve always liked you and this year you’ve been kind of an ad***.’

A 51-year-old Fallon said, “Did you say that to Travis Kelce? He’s one of the sweetest people I know!”
Charles replied: “I did. I said, ‘What happened to that?’ And he laughed. He said, “You know what, you’re right.” I’ll tell you why.”
According to Charles, Kelce told him the Chiefs were “more concerned about that game” at the time.
“He said, ‘I knew I had to go in with a little charade,’ and he did,” Charles said. “He got one of our veterans to commit a personal foul. He got in our heads and it worked for them, and they won the game.”
Charles added: “It was great actually. We talked about different types of football. Such a good type. I really enjoyed it.”
Fallon agreed that Kelce is “the funniest human being” and said he can’t watch the NFL star’s games because “I can’t root against him.”
Charles responded that while he likes Kelce “a lot,” when it comes to football, “I’ll take it against him.”
Swift, 36, released “Fortnight” as the first single from her self-titled album Department of Tortured Poets in April 2024.
at that time, Charles gushed about having the opportunity to collaborate with the singer.
“I’ve admired Taylor for a long time, but meeting her in person took my fandom to a whole new level,” she captioned a screenshot of the music video posted on Instagram. “A genuine, kind, approachable human being and just a stellar human being, not to mention a cult director to boot!”
